독수리 이야기

 

독수리는 최장수 할 수 있는 생체 계를
자신이 그 몸에 가지고 있습니다.
그가 70살까지 살 수도 있지만, 그러기 위해서는
대단히 힘든 선택을 해야만 합니다.

그가 40이 되면, 그의 길고도 유연한 발톱은
더는 먹이를 움켜쥘 수 없습니다.
그의 길고도 날카롭던 부리도 구부러져 버립니다.
오래되어 낡고 두꺼워진 깃털의 무게로 말미암아
날개는 가슴팍에 붙어버려 더 이상
날아다닐 수도 없을 만큼 힘듭니다.

그렇게 되면 독수리에게는 딱 두 가지
선택밖에는 없습니다,
죽느냐, 아니면 150일 동안이라고 하는
고통스러운 변화의 과정을 통과해야
하느냐? 하는 것입니다..

그 진행과정이 일어나는 동안
그는 산꼭대기에 있는 둥지로 날아 들어가
앉아 있어야만 합니다.
거기서 독수리는 바위에다 대고
부리가 다 떨어져 나갈 때까지 찍어대야 합니다.

부리가 떨어져 나가고 나면, 독수리는 새 부리가
다시 자라나도록 기다려야 합니다.
새 부리가 자라나는 것을 기다리는 동안
낡은 발톱들이 빠져나가고 새 발톱들이 솟아납니다.
그러는 동안, 독수리의 오래고 낡은 깃털이
빠지기 시작합니다.

그리고 다섯 달이 지나고 나서,
다시 태어난 독수리는 그 유명한 비상을 하면서
30년을 더 살 수가 있는 것입니다!!

왜 변화가 필요할까요?
우리는 많은 시간 동안, 살아남기 위한
변화의 과정을 시작해야 할 필요가 있습니다.
우리는 때때로 과거의 기억들, 상처들,
지난날의 관습들, 이런 것들을 털어 내 버려야 합니다.
과거의 무거운 짐에서 해방 받을 때,
현재의  삶을 제대로 누릴 수 있습니다.

The story of eagle

The eagle has the longest life-span of its species.

It can live up to 70years but to reach this age, the eagle must make a hard decision.

Its’ long and flexible talons can no longer grab prey which serves as food.

Its’ long and beak becomes bent. Its’ old-aged and heavy wings due to their thick feathers, become stuck to its’ chests and make it difficult to fly. Then, the eagle is left with only two options: die or go through a painful process of change which last 150days.

The process requires that the eagle fly to a mountain top and sit on its’ nest there the eagle knocks its beak against a rock until it plucks out.  After plucking it out, the eagle will wait for a new beak to grow back and then it will pluck out its’ talons When its’ new talons grow back, the eagle stars plucking its’ old-aged feathers. And after five months, the eagle takes its’ famous flight of rebirth and lives for 30more years.

Why is change needed? Many times, in order survive we have to start a change process

We sometimes need to get rid of old memories, a bit and others past traditions.

Only freed from past burdens, we can take advantage of the present.
